Jane Nielson, Ph.D (nsnbc) : Steering Committee Member, Sonoma County Water Coalition Board member, Open-space, Water, and Land Preservation Foundation (O.W.L.) I was in the middle of my education as a scientist when I first encountered the fluoridation controversy. I was getting a Masters in Geochemistry from the University of Michigan, and I attended a heated City Council meeting in Flagstaff, Arizona. By the end of that meeting I was convinced opponents of water fluoridation were conspiracy-minded loonies.

For decades I never thought much about fluoridation. I believed the doctors who said fluoride prevented tooth decay, so I gave my two children fluoride drops when they were infants. It wasn’t until the Sonoma County Water Coalition hosted a debate in 2009 that I became aware of different information about water fluoridation. Like that memorable Flagstaff meeting, I thought I’d hear “science” from supporters and “crazy stuff” from opponents. But neither side presented any science at all.

What the Studies Show

Exasperated, I started researching for myself. This was familiar terrain: I had published many papers, so I know what it takes to prove a point

Dental Fluorosis

Dental Fluorosis

scientifically, and the data required to get a paper published. I had performed analyses, plotted data and defended my research and interpretations in public forums. I quickly found World Heath Organization data that stunned me:

  • Tooth decay has plummeted in developed countries worldwide, regardless of fluoridation.
  • Cavity rates are the same — or even lower – in many non-fluoridated countries compared to the U.S.
  • The one clear correlation with water fluoridation is disfiguring “dental fluorosis” (supposedly only a cosmetic problem.)

I then proceeded to review a range of scientific papers, including all the most recent research on actual and potential effects of water fluoridation. In study after study I found that differences in tooth decay rates between areas that have fluoridated water supplies for decades, and those that either never fluoridated or stopped fluoridating, were minimal to nonexistent.

Key U.S. studies confirm that ingesting fluoride does not prevent tooth decay:

  • 1990 National Institute of Dental Research Survey: One of the largest U.S. surveys of tooth decay found no significant difference in tooth decay (less than ½ of 1% of the 128 tooth surfaces in the mouth ) between fluoridated and non-fluoridated populations.
  • Several modern U.S. Studies (1997-2001): Tooth decay did not go up when fluoridation was stopped.
  • The 2009 National Institutes of Health-funded “Iowa Study”: Cavity levels the same regardless of whether children ingested fluoride or not.

Apply It or Swallow It?

In recent years the differentiation between swallowing fluoride and coating teeth with it has become lost in the discussion. But this differentiation is essential. The overwhelming consensus among scientists, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Research Council, is that fluoride works when it’s applied to the tooth surface, NOT when it’s swallowed.

Sonoma County Has provided No Scientific Support for Fluoridation

In 2013, County Health officials provided the Sonoma County Water Coalition with a single study in support of fluoridation by Australian scientists who reviewed worldwide fluoridation studies written in English. But that study is flawed because it failed to compare fluoridated versus non-fluoridated populations, lacked a cavity prevention assessment, and showed an extremely weak correlation insufficient to prove cause-and-effect. Thus far the County has not offered any more definitive data to support its campaign.

How Did the U.S. Get Sold on Water Fluoridation?

In analyzing early research, it’s clear that the U.S. promoted the spread of water fluoridation before completing definitive studies. I’ve met with this practice of promoting innovations that later prove to have negative public health impacts over and over again in< my scientific career. After the debate, I realized that without solid science to back it up, fluoridation could well represent the same dynamic. And now, having examined the research myself, I’ve concluded that water fluoridation is indeed an echo of past mistakes. Improving children’s dental health is a worthy goal. But before Sonoma County considers water fluoridation, the public must demand the County first prove that it works.

Bull City Bulletin Live –

The Sociological Significance of The Triangle in the Mass Fluoridation Scheme

Please join us for the 5th episode of The Bull City Bulletin where I give a special report of my research into the sociological significance of the mass Fluoridation scheme here in the “Triangle Area” of North Carolina.

I cover the always encroaching regional & multifaceted federal/corporate bureaucracy which invaded the Durham geography earlier in the 20th century, the influence of the American Eugenics agenda in implementing the fraudulent fluoridation policy in Durham, and the other players involved in bringing the weaponized US Public health service to the Research Triangle Park.

The facts laid here to bear, show a significant case can be made that Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill are perhaps the most formidable bastion of pro-fluoridationist energy on Earth and therefore toppling this fraud here could set off a domino effect across America to unglue the fluoridation psychology for ever.

This is an information dense transmission, do not get left behind!

On my way home from work today I could not resist calling into “The Bill Lumaye Show” which is a local talk radio station here in Raleigh North Carolina.  The topic was  marijuana actually & I simply had to offer my commentary on the utter hypocrisy of the State’s criminal “war on illegal drugs,” which has jailed more innocent people for victimless crimes than any other known civilization in our solar system!

…But as you will see in the video above – It wasn’t just about the cannabis for me, I needed to take a swing at water fluoridation because in contrast to the war on marijuana it is the ultimate paradox.

Think about it.

You have cannabis, an indigenous plant.  Something that grew on this planet long before & will surely grow long after human beings and their infinite pages of worthless regulatory code are gone.  Like any substance, humans have the free will to place it into their body…Or not!  We own our bodies, right? Our society MUST accept this truth, otherwise how can one explain phenomenons like the internationally famous moron Shoenice, who seems to make a living off of the millions of people around the planet watching him eat substances like painter’s caulk!!  If this is not a crime, smoking pot surely isn’t either!

Like Shoenice, some people make the personal decision to smoke substances like marijuana, or eat it, or not for a number of different reasons.  The reason is immaterial!  The point is that we we actually PAY the state money to conduct no-knock raids, which sometime result in the accidental shooting & murder of completely innocent people for the most extraordinary reason that they MIGHT have some indigenous plants in their house!

Meanwhile –  it is an irrefutable fact that corporations in collusion with our city bureaucrats actually engineer us to pay them for disposing fertilizer & mining waste into our drinking water!

No wonder trying to file a simple assault charge with the police against those responsible is like talking to a friendly, uniformed brick wall.

Can anyone tell me why we pay to have innocent people rot in jail for smoking pot, while fluoridators walk off scot-free with our money,  & Shoenice has millions of views on YouTube for eating Elmer’s Glue?!

At any rate, Bill Lumaye responded to my call in a very exciting way by announcing he would like to have me on his show to talk about public water fluoridation.  In all transparency, I have been bugging Bill about doing this for some time, but this was said live on the air today so it seems more likely than ever to manifest.  As soon as I know when the segment will be, I will make a public announcement on the blog so local readers can tune in.  For others, I will be sure to post a recording of the show on www.durhamagainstfluoride.com

If I get the opportunity to discuss this issue on the radio I will be disclosing some incredibly revealing information that I garnered from a public request for information made back in march.   RequestToAppear

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your tireless effort to bring awareness of the effects of water fluoridation to human health. I live in the Triangle area and am also concerned about this issue.

I thought you might be interested in a recently published article in a top level journal that links fluoridated water with ADHD and mental disorders. Here it is :

Neurobehavioral Effects of Developmental Toxicity

Attached is the original Lancet article.

Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for writing & sharing this article, although I am already aware of these studies & have written about them extensively on my website.

One of the most common criticisms of these studies is that the subjects in the studies were drinking water at a much higher concentration level than what is commonly seen in municipal water supplies across America.  However this observation does not negate the fact that drinking fluoride is simply linked to the lowering of IQ, so we naturally should question it’s efficacy & risk/reward.

Also the critics never address or even acknowledge the fact that having control over ‘concentration level’ does not = having control over the dosage of fluoride – which inherently varies from person to person to an extreme degree.

Obviously if we care more about our brains than our dental health then we should be concerned…but what happens when you discover that drinking fluoride ALSO does nothing for your dental health?

I’ll tell you what happens – we expose the fraud!  Which is what I try to do with my website, presentations & other activism.

How long have you lived in the Triangle?  When did you learn about fluoridation?

Would you be interested in speaking out or doing any activism?

Let me know your thoughts,

Corey

Hi Corey,

Thanks for your email. The Lancet article is actually a meta-analysis of the effects of industrial chemicals, including fluoride, on brain development.

I am a neurobiologist and my area of interest is sensory processing in the Central Nervous System. Recently I have partly shifted my research focus to study the effects of man-made chemicals on the developing brain.

Perhaps it is no coincidence that the rates of increase of human chronic diseases including neuro-developmental disease (ADHD, autism) and metabolic disease  (diabetes, obesity) parallel the rates of exposure of man-made chemicals in the environment.  Of the >80,000 chemical released into the environment, scientists have documented the safety and health effects of only a very tiny fraction of these chemicals. What’s more, many of the chemicals that are being used in the USA are in effect banned in the EU and other countries.

As a foreign citizen I feel I have no right to outwardly protest or demonstrate against the laws of this country. As a practicing scientist, it is also a risk to my job to speak out about issues which can possibly irk corporate interest (See Tyron Hayes, Ignacio Chapela and many other scientists).

However I do care very much about the citizens’ health and feel strongly that people need to be more aware of the chemicals found in their food or water and what these chemicals can do to their health.

Your perseverance to bring awareness of the fluoride in drinking water issue is an admirable undertaking and is indeed laudable. I apologize for my inability to be more involved, but please know that I support your tenacity and hard work.

Best,

At the very least, would you allow me to publish this e-mail exchange with your identity kept completely anonymous?
I feel it would be enlightening to the other viewers of the site & I would ensure that you approve of the message before it is published.  I understand your position completely & know you have to work within the confines of your own circumstance to fight the perceived injustices, like we all do equally. I am just trying to suggest some way we can make this exchange productive, even if you are bound not to do anything more visibly.
Thank you for your encouragement & interest in my work, it is always appreciated when someone takes the time to make their thoughts known.

Editor’s Note:  I want to share this blurb with you from Time Magazine’s online publication, because it confirms two key points I have maintained since I created 100274-56268-ralph-wiggum_largedurhamagainstfluoride.com, however not been adequately refuted by the bureaucracy responsible for fluoridating our water here in Durham North Carolina.

Namely;

  1. That fluoride (especially in the form Hydrofluorosilicic acid) is an “industrial chemical” and,
  2. That drinking fluoride has the material affect of lowering your intelligence quotient

As you read this casual confirmation in a mainstream publication, just remember that our city website tacitly admits to adding one of the below named IQ stultifying industrial chemicals to your water.   Here is a video of the actual tank which pours this corrosive compound into our drinking water:

A new report finds the number of chemicals contributing to brain disorders in children has doubled since 2006

By Alice Parker 2/14/2014

In recent years, the prevalence of developmental disorders such as autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia have soared. While greater awareness and more sophisticated diagnoses are partly responsible for the rise, researchers say the changing environment in which youngsters grow up may also be playing a role.

In 2006, scientists from the Harvard School of Public Health and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai identified five industrial chemicals responsible for causing harm to the brain — lead, methylmercury, polychlorinated biphenyls (found in electric transformers, motors and capacitors), arsenic (found in soil and water as well as in wood preservatives and pesticides) and toluene (used in processing gasoline as well as in paint thinner, fingernail polish and leather tanning). Exposure to these neurotoxins was associated with changes in neuron development in the fetus as well as among infants, and with lower school performance, delinquent behavior, neurological abnormalities and reduced IQ in school-age children.

(MORE: A Link Between Pesticides and Attention Disorders?)

Now the same researchers have reviewed the literature and found six additional industrial chemicals that can hamper normal brain development. These are manganese, fluoride, chlorpyrifos, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, tetrachloroethylene and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. Manganese, they say, is found in drinking water and can contribute to lower math scores and heightened hyperactivity, while exposure to high levels of fluoride from drinking water can contribute to a seven-point drop in IQ on average. The remaining chemicals, which are found in solvents and pesticides, have been linked to deficits in social development and increased aggressive behaviors.

The research team acknowledges that there isn’t a causal connection between exposure to any single chemical and behavioral or neurological problems — it’s too challenging to isolate the effects of each chemical to come to such conclusions. But they say the growing body of research that is finding links between higher levels of these chemicals in expectant mothers’ blood and urine and brain disorders in their children should raise alarms about how damaging these chemicals can be. The developing brain in particular, they say, is vulnerable to the effects of these chemicals, and in many cases, the changes they trigger are permanent.

“The consequence of such brain damage is impaired [central nervous system] function that lasts a lifetime and might result in reduced intelligence, as expressed in terms of lost IQ points, or disruption in behavior,” they write in their report, which was published in the journal Lancet Neurology.

They point to two barriers to protecting children from such exposures — not enough testing of industrial chemicals and their potential effect on brain development before they are put into widespread use, and the enormous amount of proof that regulatory agencies require in order to put restrictions or limitations on chemicals. Most control of such substances, they note, occurs after negative effects are found among adults; in children, the damage may be more subtle, in the form of lower IQ scores or hyperactivity, that might not be considered pathological or dangerous. “Our very great concern is that children worldwide are being exposed to unrecognized toxic chemicals that are silently eroding intelligence, disrupting behaviors, truncating future achievements and damaging societies, perhaps most seriously in developing countries,” they write. “A new framework of action is needed.”

In my last report, you journeyed with me through the “Customer Service Hotline” of Durham’s Water Management Department, where I attempted to get a discount on my water bill that would account for the fluoridation chemicals forcefully added to our water since 1957.  I figured & I’m sure most red-blooded Americans would agree, that we should not have to pay for medication we never agreed to purchase.

As you may remember, this was a failed attempt insofar as no discount was ever rendered but the discussion was nevertheless successful in exposing the unfortunate reality that the individual in Durham North Carolina is left with absolutely no recourse if he disagrees with the communist-inspired social engineering thrust upon his drinking water, which is medicated against his consent.  In typical fashion I was treated like a real hot potato by the powers that be in Durham before eventually being reminded that, despite my wishes, I would still be forced to pay the same rate for my water even though nobody debated the legality of systematically medicating the water supply or so much as acknowledged the outright violation of our rights.

Left with no recourse, I decided to pursue a different course on this issue and attempted to file a criminal police report with the Durham Police Department, since I have never once met an individual willing to argue that drugging someone else’s water is a legal & lawful thing to do.  As you will see, I make a quick transformation from an enthusiastic mid-twenty something into a veritable turd subsequently passed from one governmental intestinal tract to another.

It is clear from the onset that this is an issue nobody in our government is either knowledgeable about or has any authority to change, which also happens to be a leitmotif of this effort since its early beginnings in 2011.  Listen! and you will hear me being passed from supervisor to supervisor, in a familiar methodology which inevitably leads me to a kind but ignorant Durham Police Officer who sums up the City’s stance on fluoridation perfectly when I pose the simple question:

“What will happen to the police report after it is filed?”

Officer Smith of the Durham Police Department replies:

“To be honest sir, absolutely nothing.”

File your own criminal police report today!

The Durham City Government has just announced that they will be officially receiving the recommendation from the Durham Public Health Board to continue drugging our municipal water supply this coming Thursday on September 5, 2013. Terry Capers from the City Clerk’s office recently wrote,

To: thegldnrule@gmail.com

from: Terry.Capers@durhamnc.gov

The Durham County Public Health Director Ms. Gayle Harris will present the Mayor and City Council with the Municipal Water Fluoridation recommendation at the Work Session on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm!

If you are interested in speaking at the Work Session regarding the item please let me know and I will inform the City Clerk’s Office of your presence.

On Friday afternoon, August 30th the September 5th Work Session agenda will be posted to our website for your convenience.

Questions please let us know.

Enjoy your Thursday!

Since we have now become experts at seeing through the tired & repetitive public health propaganda, we can accurately predict what we will hear from Gayle Harris on September 5th, 2013 and react accordingly.  It should be no surprise to anyone that Gayle Harris will say something similar if not exactly the same as was uttered by Vicki Westbrook all the way back in 2011, when I first brought this issue to the Council’s attention.

In fact, the audio recordings of Vicki are below where she said something remarkably similar to the official recommendation produced by the board of health back in June of this year, nearly 2 years later;

“Fluoridation in drinking water is again considered to be one of the primary resources for preventing tooth decay and one of the top 10 advances in Public Health that has happened since the 1900’s”

-Vicki Westbrook

Compare & Contrast Vicki’s statement from 2011 with the recommendation published in June by the board of health, after so much “diligent consideration” by the board of health & Durham City Government, which Gayle Harris will repeat to the city council on this coming Thursday:

Durham Board of Health News: “Board of Health Recommends Continued Fluoridation of Drinking Water”

“This recommendation is deemed effective for prevention of tooth decay and for promotion of good oral health by the United States Department of Health and Human Services (US-DHHS) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

If my prediction comes true, this would certainly re-confirm the pattern we have noticed since the beginning of our efforts which is to repeat the propaganda perpetrated by the U.S. Public Health Service, where the Fluoridation policy originated in the first place during the 1950’s.

You see, even after the Fluoride fraud was brilliantly exposed in 2012 by WTVD in addition to a collective 2 years protesting publicly, the sad fact is that the prognosis from the whole Durham City Government remains every bit as un-evolved as it was to begin with:

“The Government will continue to medicate the population through the water supply, without providing any scientific evidence of its benefits.”

Have they not learned anything throughout all this time?  Do the people in our city government have no critical thinking skills of their own, or will they continue to restate the federal agency’s every word like they are dog on a choker leash?

While they have surely put on a nice theater which I will elaborate on below but first we ask ourselves;

  • Is it true that the board of health is making a legitimate & well researched recommendation?
  • Have they honestly debated the subject & considered all the developments since I brought this to their attention in 2011?

Let’s review the chronology of events and judge for ourselves:

  1. December 20, 2011 I presented scientific evidence to Durham City Council that fluoride was harmful to our bones & lowers the Intelligence Quotient in Children among other things & demanded it be stopped.  Vicki Westbrook appeared preemptively to say what was quoted above.
  2. December 25, 2011 The Herald Sun & Durham City Government Dismiss the whole thing
  3. January 2012 – I create DurhamAgainstFluoride.com
  4. January 2012 Los Angeles Healthcare System releases Study Linking Fluoride Uptake with #1 Killer Cardiovascular Disease
  5. March 22, 2012 I make a formal request for the documents which substantiate the city’s claim that drinking fluoride prevents tooth decay.  This is when Kevin Buchholtz from the Dept. of Health and Human Services appears and admits to the City Council that fluoride leaches lead from the pipe system and causes behavior problems in children, in addition to giving his own daughter dental fluorosis
  6. May 22, 2012 – Albuquerque, the most populated city in New Mexico Bans Public Water Fluoridation
  7. July 25, 2012 Harvard Releases Comprehensive Study Concluding Ingesting Fluoride Lowers Intelligence Quotient
  8. September 21, 2012 I Appear at Durham Public Health Board to encourage the board to do their own research and be proud about bucking the system; they create another ad-hoc committee to review Fluoride Issue
  9. November 15, 2012 WTVD releases their incredible 7.5 minute investigative report on Fluoride, featuring Durham Against Fluoride & the Board of Health
  10. November 29, 2012 Durham City Government Releases Rebuttal Video of Vicki Westbrook repeating unsubstantiated claim; “Fluoride is added to prevent tooth decay”
  11. December 2012 Durham City Government Posts Job Listing for Public Relations Manager for the Water Management Division
  12. January-February 2013 I began working with anti-Fluoride activists from Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill to produce a 1.5 hour long retrospective documentary on our efforts so far
  13. March 2013 Durham Public Health Board Finally Has their Hearing to debate the Fluoride issue and make their official recommendation; I am removed by force by a Deputy Sheriff who followed orders from Gayle Harris
  14. April 2013 the Documentary, entitled “21st Century Dawes Project” is published exposing the Triangle Public Health Bureaucracy which enforces water Fluoridation in Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill
  15. May 22, 2013 Portland Oregon votes “NO” to adding Fluoride
  16. July 25, 2013 Mayor Bill Bell asserts King-like Powers over Durham, stifles Anti-Fluoride Protests
  17. July 29, 2013 Israel joins most of the developed world & Bans Fluoride
  18. THIS Thursday September 5 2013 Gayle Harris will repeat the same script from the Department of Health and Human Services; We the People will repeal their recommendation because the city has still not produced any scientific evidence to substantiate their claim drinking fluoride chemicals will prevent tooth decay.

As was explained in my last post, the bureaucracy of Durham’s Government has kept the fluoride topic a real hot potato for 2 years now, passing it from one ad-hoc committee to another so as to provide the illusion that they are taking this issue seriously, but never producing any legitimate evidence to substantiate their claims.  How they can possibly still think that we are still buying this tactic any longer can only be understood by coming on Thursday to observe if my prediction about what Gayle Harris will say comes true.

Since no tangible evidence has been produced so far to substantiate their claims, and I assure you they will not be produced on Thursday, the original request which the City is trying to answer with this recommendation remains unanswered, no matter what Gayle Harris or anyone else says.  This is because the evidence which supports drinking fluoride as a means to prevent tooth decay does not exist, yet remains the basis of the continuation of the policy.

Even more troublesome is the fact that the government agent providing Thursday’s recommendation to the City Council also happens to be the individual who ordered a Sheriff to remove me from the *Public* hearing when I exposed the original fraud back in March of this year.  Talk about conflict of interest! Thanks to the wonders of youtube, we can instantly time travel to that moment when Gayle squeals “Sheriff!” as I debunk their fraud in real time:

Given all of the above, we the people will come to 101 City Hall Plaza, Durham, NC on Thursday September 5th and appeal this recommendation, restating these truths which we believe to be self evident: that medicating the city’s water supply with a corrosive waste product from the fertilizer manufacturers is an unethical, poisonous, and illegal thing to do!
